An offseason move was made by Rameir Gordon from Deltona High School (Fla.) to DeLand, and with those moves the skills on the gridiron will transfer seamlessly. During his junior season with the Wolves, Gordon (6-0, 180) was in the box, roaming the back half of the secondary, and playing corner. The versatile defender will continue his headhunting and ball hawking ways with the Bulldogs as college coaches watch.

The Bulldogs will feature Gordon all over the field this fall.

“Deland has me playing free safety, but I am versatile; I can play strong safety,” Gordon said. “They have me rotating at strong and free.”

The offer list for Gordon includes Duquesne, Georgetown, Navy, Penn, Columbia, and North Alabama. Gordon got out to some camps this summer proving he is a D-I player.

“I went to an ECU (East Carolina), Georgia Tech, and UNA (North Alabama); that’s when I got my UNA offer,” Gordon stated.

Gordon explained how he landed the offer from the Lions under first-year head coach Brent Dearmon.

“It was just my competition,” Gordon shared. “I was competing against everyone and in every drill; I was just competing. That was the main thing.”

UCF and Army are among the programs showing interest in Gordon. The Knights have welcomed him to their Orlando campus numerous times.

“UCF, I’ve been there a couple of times,” Gordon said. “I have been there about five times.”

Gordon added, “I love their coaching staff. Coach (David) Gibbs (DB), he and I are locked in.”

A big visit to Annapolis is being planned by Gordon.

“I am going to Navy,” Gordon shared. “I love the coaching staff at Navy. I’m really excited to get on campus and meet everybody.”

Cutting off the long locks is not a big deal for Gordon.

“They already talked to me about my hair – it is whatever to me,” Gordon stated. “I am becoming a man; it is part of life.”

UCF, Navy, UNA, and Duquesne games are on the fall visit schedule for Gordon.
