In Santa Maria, California sits a throwback tight end with current day hands ready to make it happen at the next level.

Troy Artopoeus is a 6’4”, 220 pound, extra tackle on running downs and pass threat in the offense. He even doubles at outside linebacker being a true two-way ironman player. Trouble is few college recruiters know of Artopoeus’ offensive abilities because he plays in a run-first and run-second offense. In 2014 he was the third leading receiver at Righetti High School pulling down seven passes for 91 yards.

What gives this writer confidence to say he is a great pass catching tight end? His highlight reel and watching him play for Team B2G on the 7×7 circuit.

Unlike most high school players looking for a hole in a defense’s zone, Artopoeus reaches out for the ball not shielding his back from the big hit that is surely coming catching the ball cleanly to help move the chains.

All college recruiters clued in on Troy are waiting to see his early season highlight reel. He has interest from teams like San Diego State, Cal Poly, Northern Arizona, and Arizona State and has taken unofficials to Boise State, Miami, and Notre Dame.
