Most recruiting classes are built around the future in the pocket and that is the way San Diego State has started off their 2017 haul. On Wednesday, the Aztecs landed Texas quarterback Cam Roane, their first in the 2017 class.

Roane burst onto the recruiting scene in 2014 throwing for 3,085 yards with 33 touchdowns against just three picks. With Colleyville Heritage in 2015, Roane threw for 2,632 yards with 25 touchdowns against Texas 5A talent. Showing his speed and quickness, inside the pocket and out, the 6’1.5”, 190 pound, dual-threat also ran for 572 yards with two additional scores through 10 games in 2015.

A lot of colleges have shown interest in the Colleyville area product with Arkansas State, Grambling State, North Texas, Texas-El Paso, and Texas-San Antonio extending offers.

Roane crafted a thoughtful announcement posting it on Twitter:
