Sierra Canyon High School is on a runaway path to start the 2015 season posting a 5-0 record with the closest margin of victory being a 53-28 win over Taft High School (Woodland Hills). The Trailblazers still have tough games remaining against Nordhoff (Ojai), Bishop (Bishop), Brentwood School (Los Angeles), and Windward (Los Angeles) but are on a path for another deep run into the California High School Playoffs as seen a year ago posting an 11-2 mark.

One of the stalwarts in the trenches for the Trailblazers on both the offensive and defensive line has been Class of 2017 rising star Kanan Ray. The 6’4”, 260 pound, two-way talent has helped keep junior quarterback Niko Harris clean while completing 63-of-99 passes for 1,197 yards with 18 touchdowns against one pick.

In the rushing attack, Sierra Canyon has racked up 1,223 yards on the ground with junior Bobby Cole leading the way with 771 yards on just 60 carries sporting an eye popping 12.9 yard per carry average.

On defense, Ray has 17 tackles and a tackle for a loss to go along with two quarterback hurries in limited action due to the lopsided outcomes of the games.

Ray already has a bevy of college recruiters showing interest with Washington, San Diego State, Arizona State, Washington State, Arizona, Oregon State, and Cal among others building that relationship leading to offers and a National Signing Day signature.

Sure to catch a few more college coaches’ eyes, Ray has released his mid-season highlight reel (Click link to see reel on Hudl).
