South Carolina Secures Commitments from Devonte Wyatt and Davonne Bowen

South Carolina added two big pieces to the defensive side of the ball in the 2017 recruiting class landing outside linebacker/defensive end Davonne Bowen and defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt.

Wyatt lined up as a hand on the ground defensive end and as a stand-up outside rusher for Towers High School (Decatur, GA) in 2015. The 6’4”, 260 pound, talent also got some snaps in at tight end and runs really well for his size. Wyatt had offers from South Florida, Troy, South Alabama, Georgia State, and North Carolina State before committing to the Gamecocks.

Bowen had a standout junior year coming up with 61.5 tackles, 14 sacks, 22 tackles for a loss, 32 quarterback hurries, and a pick-six for Woodmont High School. Bowen has over 20 reported offers with team like Maryland, Missouri, Appalachian State, Marshall, Miami (OH), Louisville, and Minnesota putting down offers.

Bowen camped with the Gamecocks over the weekend. South Carolina picked up the three-star recruit with his announcement on Twitter:

The Gamecocks now have 11 verbal commitments to the 2017 class with the early focus being on the offensive side of the ball. With Wyatt and Bowen’s commitments, USC now has four defensive players committed.
