Speed kills on the gridiron, and Jerrae Hawkins has the wheels to slay. The 2024 receiver out of Florida’s IMG Academy (Bradenton) scorched the track two weeks ago posting a 10.3 in the 100. The four-star prospect has collected 17 offers with three officials set and one contender lining up for the fourth.

Focused on football in college, running track is iffy for Hawkins.

“I don’t plan on running track in college, but I don’t know right now,” Hawkins stated.

When Hawkins dropped a world class time in the 100, it was just another day at the office.

“I knew I was going to do it; I was not surprised,” Hawkins said.

The elite speed has Florida, Penn State, and West Virginia lighting up his phone regularly. The relationship with the three programs was covered.

Florida: “It is good. We talk every other day.”

Penn State: “Our relationship is good. I have been there a few times.”

West Virginia: “I am Virginia from; we have a good relationship. They were one of the first schools to offer me. I have been there a lot to see coach (Neal) Brown and them.”

The Gators and Nittany Lions got Hawkins on campus this offseason. The trip to Happy Valley for Penn State’s spring game was detailed.

“It was a good visit,” Hawkins shared. “I wanted to see the spring game. I had been there before, I wanted to go watch their game.”

The next unofficial visit may keep Hawkins within the state borders.

“I don’t know where I will visit next,” Hawkins said. “If a new school offers, I may go visit them. Miami, I definitely want to go visit them.”

Hawkins continued sharing his interest in the Hurricanes.

“I’m interested in them, I just have to go there and see how things are there,” Hawkins stated.

Looking ahead to official visits, there’s no surprise which teams are in the mix.

“I have three set, West Virginia June 3-5, Penn State June 9-11, and Penn State June 25-27,” Hawkins said. “I’m trying to get one to Miami.”

There’s no rush for Hawkins on setting up a commitment date. He’s waiting to see how the official visits and the rest of his recruiting process plays out.
