The Stanford Cardinal recruiting machine is starting to pick up momentum as National Signing Day nears landing three recruits over the past six days. On Monday and Tuesday, the latest additions to the 2016 recruiting haul included Utah tight end Loa Kaufusi and Indiana defensive tackle Jovan Swann.

Kaufusi was an instant impact player for East High School (Salt Lake City) helping the Leopards from a 5-6 record in 2014 to an 11-2 mark in 2015. Through six games (incomplete stats available), the 6’5”, 233 pound, target had secured 10 receptions for 210 yards. Playing on both sides of the ball, he also had 17 tackles and one sack through the six contests. Stanford landed the 3-star recruit over offers from BYU, Utah State, Utah, Oregon State, and Nevada.

Swann joins the Cardinals after receiving 20-plus offers from top programs from around the nation. The 6’3”, 265 pound, defensive lineman started making a name for himself in recruiting circles after coming up with 36 tackles, 10.5 tackles for a loss, and seven sacks as a junior for Center Grove.

The Trojans made it to the Indiana state semifinal round in 2014 before falling to Ben Davis 49-45. During Swann’s senior season, the Trojans ran the table going 14-0 topping Penn 28-16 for the championship trophy. Swann had an outstanding senior season coming up with 65 tackles, 15.5 tackles for a loss, and 5.5 sacks playing in all 14 games.

Stanford hosted Swann on Oct. 3 for an official visit and then the Indiana standout took visits to Northwestern (Dec. 4) and Indiana (Dec. 11). Other teams to offer included Michigan State, Mississippi State, Virginia, Boston College, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, and Missouri among others.
