Stanford picks up commitment from 4-star QB KJ Costello

On Thursday Santa Margarita Catholic quarterback KJ Costello ended what could have been a very long recruiting period for the 4-star by verbally committing to Stanford.

Costello, 6’4”, 218 pounds, rose to the top of the recruiting rankings as part of the 2016 recruiting class passing for 3,123 yards with 23 touchdowns against 10 picks. The pro-style quarterback picked up another 103 yards on the ground with two additional scores for the Eagles.

As a sophomore Costello passed for 1,478 yards with 13 touchdowns showing the early potential of an elite high school quarterback.

The Rancho Santa Margarita, California native already had offers from nearly 20 programs from across the nation including Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Tennessee, along with in-state powers Cal, USC, and UCLA.

Stanford’s only other current verbal commitment for the 2016 class is 6’3”, 290 pound, Tampa Berkeley Prep defensive tackle Bo Peek.
