Stanford kept an in-state football bloodline with the Cardinal when center Drew Dalman verbally committed on Tuesday.

Dalman started popping up on recruiting boards during his junior season helping Palma High School (Salinas) to a 10-2 mark. The 6-3, 265 pound, talent is a two-way star for the Chieftains but has been recruited by multiple schools as a center.

The Cardinal edged out 16 other reported offers including Pac-12 foes Colorado, Arizona, Oregon State, and Washington with other offers coming in from programs like Michigan, San Diego State, Yale, Nevada, and Colorado State.

Stanford fans received the good news via Twitter when Dalman posted, “Happy to announce that I’m committing to Stanford University! Thank you to everyone involved. #cardclass17.”

Dalman’s father, Chris, played for Stanford before becoming a sixth round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in the 1993 draft. Chris is credited with eight years of NFL service playing in 105 games, starting 64, put did not log an official snap in the 2000 season before retiring. If son is like his father, Chris played at the NFL level listed at 6-3, 297 pounds, a very achievable weight for Drew.
