Team Makasi Takes Home Southern California Pylon 7v7 Championship Trophy

Santa Ana, California – The action on the field in Santa Ana for the Pylon 7v7 Tournament lived up to the billing with standout performances throughout the two-day event. In the end, Team Makasi showed out producing a 9-0 record from pool play into the single-elimination round taking home a trophy at the nation’s premiere 7v7 tournament with quarterback Richard “Richie” Colmenero III earning Tournament MVP honors.

Heading into the Pylon tournament, there was great anticipation for the play on the field. Not only were the future collegiate standouts lining the various rosters, but some of the top ranked teams in the nation and in the region had thrown their hat into the ring to prove they were among the best of the best.

The squads fans were eager to see play included E.A.T. (Explosive Athletic Training) Fire, Warrior Nation, Ground Zero Carr, TTP (Trust The Process), M&D, KT Prep Money, MVP Football Academy, KT Prep, Team Hustle, Real Speed, Ground Zero Graham, and Team Makasi.

Some of the top athletes on the field included four-star 2022 Mater Dei cornerback Domani Jackson (Ground Zero), four-star 2021 Oregon athlete commit Kyron Ware-Hudson (Ground Zero), rising 2021 Norco High School defensive back Steven Cuadra (E.A.T.), future Class of 2023 star quarterback Kadin Semonza (Real Speed), 2021 QB Donovan Smith (Team Hustle), three-star 2021 receiver Makai Cope (Ground Zero), and Canada’s Class of 2021 receiver Tristan Michaud (6-6, 200), an Iowa State commit playing for MVP Football Academy.

Pylon’s southern California event was the eighth of 23 scheduled 7v7 events leading up to the National Championship May 23-25.
