After releasing a top 10 on April 10, Malik Blockton (6-4, 275) remains wide open in his recruitment, but two teams maybe edging out in front. With spring ball ramping up at Alabama’s Pike High School, Blockton has put unofficial visits on hold allowing the recruiting process to come to him on the Patriots’ sidelines.

Reporting 40 offers, Blockton’s top 10 included Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Oregon, South Carolina, and Texas.

A few more scholarship opportunities could come Blockton’s way.

“There are a couple of schools showing interest that haven’t offered, Colorado, Vanderbilt, and Ohio State,” Blockton stated.

Of the teams among his favorites, the four-star shared which are making heavier contact over the rest, “Texas and Auburn.”

The contact with the Longhorns may soon lead to a visit.

“Our relationship is pretty good,” Blockton said. “I’m talking to coach (Bo) Davis (DL) the most. He is talking about getting me down there for a visit.”

The rapport with Tigers’ defensive line coach Jeremy Garrett is strong.

“Our relationship is pretty good,” Blockton shared. “I talk to coach Garrett all the time. We talk about a lot of things, but rarely about football though. Sometimes he calls just to check on me.”

A visit to Atlanta to see the Yellow Jackets was Blockton’s most recent trip.

“I went to Georgia Tech, and I took a couple in January to Auburn, Florida, Clemson,” Blockton stated.

Blockton spoke about seeing the Yellow Jackets for their spring game, “It was good. I watched their spring game. Their defense looked pretty solid. I talked to coach (Marco) Coleman (DL) a little; it went well.”

The process of setting official visits has not begun for Blockton.
