Tennessee and Notre Dame have been successful getting Ivan Taylor on campus this offseason and will do so again before the summer months give way to preseason high school football practices, but another team is jumping in the mix ready to impress the West Orange High School (Winter Garden, Fla.) four-star defender – Louisville. The Cardinals are next up on Taylor’s travel itinerary.

The offer total for Taylor is in the double-digits. How high? That is not a concern for the 2025 prospect.

“I am focused on which place likes me the best, which place suits me the best, and where I can develop,” Taylor said. “I don’t count my offers. I even stay off social media because it is not for me.”

Projected as a next level safety, Taylor (6-0, 175) is ready to show college coaches he is a versatile defender this fall.

“I’m playing two positions, safety and corner,” Taylor stated. “I want more film at corner this year. Safety and corner will be my main two positions.”

Getting ready for the 2023 schedule, Taylor has continued to test himself.

“To prepare for that, I have been working with my dad, running in the sand, and working on getting my feet faster,” Taylor shared. “I have been working on man-press and press-bail, man, and off-man. I’ve been working on my body, getting stronger, faster, and jumping higher; all the little things.”

Teams across the country are ready to see Taylor’s progress this fall.

“Teams that are in regular contact are the teams I am going to visit coming up; Notre Dame, Tennessee, Louisville, and Ohio State,” Taylor shared. “They’ve really been in touch with me. So has Florida and Florida State as well.”

The Volunteers welcomed Taylor to Knoxville for a successful visit.

“That went really well,” Taylor said. “The people up there are genuine. They are nice, and they are real. The coaching staff, I love them. They are good people. They give you the real, they are not fake. They are very transparent.”

The Fighting Irish staff got to work one-on-one with Taylor this summer.

“I went to Notre Dame, that was my only big one,” Taylor stated. “I went to a couple camps with my team, but Notre Dame was my one big camp.”

Taylor continued, “It was great. That was a really good camp that I enjoyed. I really liked it. I like their coaching staff. Coach (Chris) O’Leary (DB) and coach (Marcus) Freeman, I can’t wait to keep talking to them. I want to talk to them more and develop that relationship as much as possible.”

Notre Dame made the most out of Taylor’s time in South Bend.

“We went around the campus, saw the facilities, and I talked to coach O’Leary and coach Freeman a lot,” Taylor shared. “I did a photo shoot as well; all good times.”

The next stop is in ACC country with the Cardinals.

“This will be my first time there,” Taylor stated. “The people that I have been talking to, they are showing a whole bunch of love. They are super nice. They will talk to me every day; they show a lot of attention.”

NOTES FROM THE INTERVIEW

Taylor on his Ohio State visit:

“That was my first time being up there; it was good talking to coach Perry Eliano (DB).”

Taylor on Florida State:

“I knew coach Mike Norvell, my cousin was there; he just transferred to Colorado.”

Taylor on Florida:

“Jordan Castell, he was my teammate last year, he is there doing his thing at Florida. He is probably starting this year. Going to Florida, I would want to play with him.”
