The unraveling story of Mississippi defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche continues to take dramatic turns. On Monday, the Rebels star player was charged with marijuana possession stemming from a Saturday evening that included a fall from a hotel wall in Atlanta.

The reports have been varied from a wild four-story fall to a 15-foot fall, but either way the 2015 second team All-American took a plunge off the Grand Hyatt in Atlanta over the weekend. The 6’4”, 296 pound, human tank was listed in stable condition when police arrived on the scene transporting him to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Per reports, Nkemdiche knocked out his hotel window and climbed or scooted along the surface of the building for some 15 feet before trying to climb around or over a wall when he fell. When police were checking on his room, they found “approximately seven rolled marijuana cigarettes” leading to marijuana possession charges.

There have been no confirmed reports if alcohol or other substances were in use the night of Nkemdiche’s fall contributing to the incident.

Sunday, Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze released a statement that read in-part, “(We are) still learning about the matter, but obviously Robert’s well-being is our greatest concern.”

Nkemdiche had 29 tackles on the season in 11 games played missing one game due to a concussion. The first team All-SEC selection also had seven tackles for a loss, three sacks, two pass breakups, seven quarterback hurries, and one forced fumble.

The Rebels, ranked No. 16, take on No. 18 Oklahoma State in the Sugar Bowl to be played on Jan. 1. Nkemdiche’s status for the game has not been announced either as being able to physically play or if he is suspended.
