Double-digit offers are down, but there are still a whole lot of college football teams missing out on a fantastic all-around athlete and talent in Malcolm Simmons. Throughout his junior year, Simmons (6-0, 175) proved with Benjamin Russell School (Alexander City, Ala.) that he can do anything with the pigskin in his hands. When he wasn’t driving the ball down the field for the Wildcats, he was stuffing 6A Alabama offenses. Two teams are jumping out early on the four-star with official visit dates set.

The 2022 resume speaks for itself; Simmons was the Wildcats leading rusher toting the rock 120 times for 753 yards with 11 trips into the end zone. When his squad looked to air it out, Simmons hauled in 31 passes for 513 yards with seven more scores posted. He even went 2-of-2 passing with a touchdown throwing for 112 yards.

The do-all athlete continued to impress this spring competing in track and field for Benjamin Russell.

“I competed in the long jump and high jump,” Simmons stated. “I won high jump with 6-feet, 8-inches, and the long jump at 24-feet, 1-inch.”

The Wildcats are gearing up spring training, and college coaches are coming by campus to see Simmons.

“UAB, Auburn, Kennesaw State, Georgia State, Coastal Carolina, and a couple more that I have forgotten have come by,” Simmons shared.

Teams have laid down 13 offers with Oklahoma, Florida State, Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee showing interest. The interested parties are wanting to get the next level receiver on campus before dropping that offer.

“They are wanting me to come up to camp; they want to see me,” Simmons said. “Most likely I will get the offer if I go. They want to see me play receiver. Hopefully it will be from my spring game film; that will probably be the go.”

Pressed for time with school, offseason workouts, and track practices, Simmons was able to visit the Crimson Tide in March.

“It was awesome,” Simmons shared. “That’s my dream school. It was a dream come true to see their facilities, see all the coaches, get to know their receivers coach, coach (Holmon) Wiggins, and meet coach (Nick) Saban. It was amazing.”

While other teams sleep, two squads have locked in official visit dates with Simmons.

“I am going on an official to Liberty the last week in June, and I am going to Auburn on June 9,” Simmons stated. “I will take official visits after that, but I am not sure where yet.”

A relationship built with receivers coach Tony Washington in Morgantown has transferred over with the Flames.

“Coach (Tony) Washington and I have been talking since he was at West Virginia,” Simmons stated. “We’ve been going on a few years now talking and building that relationship. I’m glad to go down there and see what they got going on.”

When on The Plains, Simmons will be in very familiar territory.

“Coach (Marcus) Davis (WR) – I went there like five times last season for games,” Simmons said. “I am familiar with all the coaches, coach Hugh Freeze and all of them. It will be an amazing time going there.”

There are a few teams Simmons would like to officially visit if all works out.

“Coastal Carolina, Penn State, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, West Virginia, and UCF,” Simmons shared.
