The 2016 recruiting efforts have been a rollercoaster for UCLA and the Bruin faithful. The class has ebbed and flowed, suffered some setbacks, but picked up some momentum on Monday with 3-star quarterback Devon Modster verbally committing.

Modster, a dual-threat quarterback, jumped on the recruiting map during his junior season passing for 2,602 yards with 24 touchdowns against nine interceptions. He also ran for 680 yards on 133 carries with 12 touchdowns leading Tesoro to a 9-3 record. The 6’2”, 215 pound, talent upped his game during his senior year passing for 3,523 yards with 26 touchdowns rushing for 427 yards with 14 additional scores leading the Titans to a 9-3 mark.

Arizona was on the California talent early landing his commitment on April 15, 2015. Offers continued to come in from teams like Boise State, Cal, Washington State, Utah, San Diego State, Syracuse, Kansas, Colorado State, and Maryland. All appeared to be on track with Modster heading to Arizona as part of the 2016 class but on Dec. 31 he decommitted. On Jan. 15 UCLA hosted Modster landing his commitment three days later.
