UCLA went into their backyard on Thursday to pull wide receiver/cornerback Marquis Lawson out of Crenshaw High School.

Lawson helped the Cougars to an 8-4 record in 2014 and a 2-1 record thus far in 2015 but has been an overlooked prospect by most college recruiters. The 5’8”, 166 pound, athlete only reported offer is from the Bruins.

Lawson posted his commitment on Twitter writing, “I would like to thank my Coach and my Parents to help me make my decision but I have officially committed to UCLA!”

Depending on how UCLA decides to utilize Lawson’s abilities, the LA native is either the third wide receiver in the 2016 recruiting class or the first cornerback.

The Bruins now have 17 verbal commitments filling several holes along the way including at fullback, kicker, and punter.
