On Thursday media members voted on who they thought would win the Pac-12 Championship come season’s end giving the USC Trojans 21 of 45 votes nudging out Oregon who received 17 votes.

While many college football fans still have the Pete Carroll era (2001-2009) etched into their collective brains, but surprisingly the Trojans nod to win the Pac-12 was the first time the media leaned towards USC since 2008. The Trojans were last picked to win the Pac-12 South in 2012 while under head coach Lane Kiffin but finished 7-6.

Of the two divisions the media gave a slight edge to the Pac-12 South as the tougher of the two conference giving Arizona State 3 votes, UCLA – 2, and Stanford – 1.

Since USC slipped into the realm of the college football regulars, Oregon has taken their spot winning four of the last six titles with Stanford going back-to-back in 2012 and 2013.
