Even though National Signing Day has come and gone, college teams are still searching for great talent to add to their roster for the 2017 season. One of the players that got hot on the recruiting trail down the backstretch of the recruiting cycle was junior college receiver Derrick Vickers. On Super Bowl Sunday, Vickers verbally committed to the Utah Utes.

Vickers had a highly productive sophomore season for Bakersfield C.C. rushing 125 times for 784 yards with 13 scores and caught 78 passes for another 894 yards with seven more trips to the end zone. Once on campus, the speedy playmaker can also be utilized on special teams after taking two kicks back for a score in 2016.

The 5-11, 195 pound, standout pulled in offers from Colorado State and Utah State with Nevada and Texas A&M coming around after the season had ended. Vickers’ commitment broke on Twitter with Utes fans welcoming the new talent to the Utah family.

247Sports rates the Utes 2017 class No. 33 in the nation, No. 6 overall in the Pac-12. Rivals ranks Utah’s class No. 25 in the country with four 4-star players and 15 3-star talents.
