Everything is clicking on and off the field for the Utes in 2015 with the Utah squad racing out to a 6-0 record and blazing a path on the recruiting trail. Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham added verbal commitment No. 23 to the 2016 class on Tuesday picking up Santa Monica JUCO quarterback Troy Williams.

Williams has helped push Santa Monica Community College to a 6-0 record this season. The offense for the Corsairs has been humming averaging 53 points a game. In five games played, Williams has already tossed for 1,582 yards with 15 touchdowns against four picks. The 6’2”, 210 pound, athlete has also gained 133 yards on the ground off 29 carries with six more scores.

Williams began his career with the Washington Huskies as a recruit out of Narbonne High School in Carson, California. Williams redshirted in 2013 but did pickup one start for Washington in 2014 completing 18-of-26 passes with 139 yards passing and two picks against Arizona State on Oct. 25. Over five career appearances for Washington, Williams completed 23-of-36 passes for 179 yards with two interceptions and one rushing touchdown.

The Utes now have three potential quarterbacks committed to their 2016 recruiting class. In-state recruit Kahi Neves is a tremendous athlete for Brighton High School playing some linebacker during his junior season. Williams is regarded as a 4-star recruit as part of the 2016 recruiting class and was ranked as a 4-star when he signed his letter of intent as part of the 2013 recruiting class.
