Venice 2024 DT Ryan Daly making Southeast recruiting rounds

After spending three years with powerhouse IMG Academy, Ryan Daly will lace up his cleats this fall with another powerhouse, Venice High School (Fla.). The defensive tackle has big shoes to help fill with the Indians after the graduation of five-star end Damon Wilson, but Daly has the skills to be the difference maker in the trenches.

Stepping outside the shadow of another five-star defensive lineman, David Stone, Daly is drawing interest from Duke, Florida Atlantic, Iowa, and South Florida with an offer down from Eastern Michigan.

The spring days have been busy for Daly making the rounds to college campuses.

“I have been to Ole Miss, Duke, Florida, Florida Atlantic, South Florida, NC State, and Wake Forest,” Daly said.

The trip to Durham was successful.

“It was great,” Daly shared. “Coach (Mike) Elko, I love him. He is a great coach. He is a defensive minded coach, which I like. Coach (Jess) Simpson (DL) is the main recruiter for me; he’s a great coach. He has an incredible story; he’s coached Pro Bowl players. I liked the visit, it was great.”

The time spent with the Bulls in Tampa was worthwhile.

“Coach Kevin Patrick (DL), he is a great coach,” Daly stated. “He’s been doing it a long time. The energy at practice was amazing. They are building a new stadium; I really liked that visit as well.”

The Owls impressed Daly during his visit with FAU.

“Coach “Rosey” (Roosevelt Maggit Jr.), their defensive line coach, he’s great,” Daly said. “I met all the players; he introduced me to the defensive linemen. I met (WR) AJ Brown (Eagles); it was crazy to meet him. The facilities, the players and coaches were great. They were very welcoming.”

A pair of Big Ten visits may happen in the coming weeks for Daly.

“I didn’t get a chance to go to Iowa, I was planning on it,” Daly stated. “I want to get up there this summer. I might go up to Rutgers; they are showing a good amount of interest, but nothing has been finalized yet.”

Two teams will get to take a deeper look at Daly’s strength and skills during the college camp season.

“I have two that are locked in right now for private workouts, Duke and FAU,” Daly said. “I have those finalized. I am not sure where else I will go.”

Getting ready for those summer showcase opportunities, Daly spoke about his offseason workouts.

“I am trying to get bigger, stronger, and faster,” Daly shared. “I am working on my technique, my get off, and being more explosive. This offseason I am trying to be a better all-around player. I was at IMG for three years, I was around some great coaches, I am just working to get better at it.”

Daly is getting it done in the weight room with a 335-bench max, repping out 405 on squat with a reported 270 max on power clean.
