Winning any college football recruiting battle is especially sweet but the Washington Huskies staff has to be feeling especially confident after securing a verbal commitment from Provo Class of 2017 wide receiver Ty Jones on Tuesday night.

Jones began his rise as a next level recruit during his sophomore season pulling in 18 passes covering 248 yards with four scores. The 6’4”, 175 pound, talent took a big step forward in 2015 finishing with 989 yards of 53 receptions with 14 touchdowns helping Provo High School to an 8-3 mark.

Offers started rolling in for Jones. BYU, Utah, Hawaii, Oregon State, UNLV, and Utah State all placed scholarships on the table with interest from Cal, Stanford, and Oregon. Jones was an early commit to Utah but on March 15 decommitted from the Utes.

Jones commitment to the Huskies on Twitter was short and to the point posting, “#Committed GO DAWGS!!!!”

Washington now has seven verbal commitments to their 2017 class pulling from Oregon, California, in-state, and now from Utah. The class is highlighted by a pair of four-star recruits in cornerback Keith Taylor and wide receiver Terrell Bynum.
