On Thursday, Washington State lost another verbal commitment to their 2017 class when California cornerback/safety Tayari Venable decommitted.

Venable was one of the first to commit to Washington State’s 2017 class jumping onboard July 1, 2015. As time has gone on and Venable has been able to further showcase his skill set on the field and during the off-season camp circuit, his list of suitors have grown. In addition to WSU, he also holds offers from Oregon State, Air Force, Eastern Washington, Hawaii, New Mexico, San Jose State, UNLV, Fresno State, Army, and Nevada. Timing of the decommitment comes after the 6-0, 180 pound, talent visited Oregon State.

Fans found out about the decommitment and reopening of his recruitment on Twitter with a post reading:

Venable worked his way into being a three-star recruit with Rancho Cucamonga High School. The Cougars are one of the top teams in California, ranked No. 6 overall after a 5-0 start, and one of the top teams in the nation currently ranked No. 35 by MaxPreps.

Washington State had a really hot summer, especially in August, adding commitments. The recruiting trail has gone cold for the Cougars since mid-August. Adding to the problems, WSU has lost a few commitments since dropping the class from a high of 14 down to 11.
