The Badgers got their first commitment from the state of Florida on Sunday landing Class of 2017 cornerback Faion Hicks.

The Badgers are getting another grizzled Florida talent in Hicks. The 5-11, 180 pound, corner was part of a Flanagan High School squad that posted a 12-2 record in 2015 against 8A competition. The Falcons are back at it again in 2016 with a 6-1 start to their season riding a six-game win streak barreling down on a Nov. 4 matchup against St. Thomas Aquinas.

Hicks’ commitment to the Badgers was of little surprise. Late in September, Hicks named Wisconsin one of his leaders heading into his Oct. 15 official visit. All went well in Madison leading to his official commitment. The Badgers’ fan base found out about the commitment on Twitter with Hicks posting a statement:

Wisconsin nabbed Hicks over offers from 15 other programs including Cincinnati, Iowa State, Southern Miss, South Florida, Western Michigan, Toledo, Appalachian State, Florida Atlantic, Illinois, Western Kentucky, and Central Florida.

The Badgers have the 44th ranked recruiting class in the nation per Rivals.
