The worst thing that could happen to the Georgia Bulldogs’ 2015 season appeared to have happened Saturday against Tennessee. On the very first play from scrimmage sophomore running back Nick Chubb sprinted to his left trying to get around the end landing awkwardly, or better yet horribly, on his left leg. The play continued when he was spun around potentially adding more to his injury.

Reports by CBS sideline reporter Alli LaForce reported that the Georgia medical staff checked Chubb over and as he was getting off the trainer’s table he collapsed on the way to the medical cart set to take him to the locker room.

Last week Chubb set a Georgia rushing record notching his 13th consecutive 100-yard rushing game. Before Week 6 action began, Chubb was the nation’s third leading rusher with 745 yards on 91 carries with seven touchdowns. The 5’10”, 210 pound, back had a season-high 189 yards rushing against Vanderbilt in Week 2 and turned in three games with two rushing touchdowns (Louisiana Monroe, South Carolina, and Southern). Last week against Alabama he passed Bulldogs’ legend Herschal Walker when he rushed for 146 yards against Alabama, his 13th consecutive game to top the 100 yard mark.

Chubb had a breakout true freshman season taking over for a suspended and then injured Todd Gurley rushing for 1,547 yards setting a SEC bowl game record with 266 yards rushing against Louisville in the Belk Bowl.

The severity of Chubb’s injury has not been provided but the initial view of the injury does not look promising for a quick return to the field.
