One Class of 2018 recruit set to see his recruiting stock skyrocket in the coming months is Brandon Burton Jr. The 6-2, 240 pound, back is already getting heavy interest from teams like Alabama and just completed his first unofficial visit to Tennessee over the weekend.

Burton got his first taste of starting at running back during his junior season rushing just 97 times compiling 826 yards with 10 scores in eight games worth of stats posted. The big back made a transition from defensive end and linebacker to full-time running back with great results. Still raw, Burton’s athletic talents shows that rare blend of power, speed, and size with a world of upside.

The Chester County High School talent took in his first college football game on Saturday watching the Volunteers destroy non-conference foe Tennessee Tech 55-0. With an upcoming unofficial visit scheduled for Alabama to see the Crimson Tide take on Mississippi State, I got an exclusive interview with Burton to see how his trip to Knoxville turned out.

Interview

Brandon, the big question, how did the visit go for you?

“It went really well. That was my first college football game to see live. That showed me a lot about the college football stadium experience and gave me a feel for the experience of playing in a college game. The visited showed me a little bit about what the college life is like.”

Did you meet with any of the coaches and what did they talk about with you?

“I met two of the coaches. They really just asked me how I liked being there. That was pretty much it.”

What all did you see during your visit?

“I went into the weight room – I saw the Peyton Manning memorial. I saw the indoor facility and we walked around all the athletic facilities. We toured the offices, trainer’s room, the barber shop, and all of that.”

What was your overall impression of the campus and facilities?

“I loved it. It was the best place I have ever been to for football. I guess because it was my first visit I was really impressed. The fans are wild there. Great atmosphere there.”

Who went with you?

“My head coach (Michael Hodum).”

When is your next unofficial visit?

“I am supposed to go to Alabama this weekend for the Mississippi State game.”

Brandon, thanks for your time today. Good luck with your visit to Alabama.

“Thank you.”
