Florida Atlantic made a big splash with their 2018 recruiting class on Wednesday and Thursday securing verbal commitments from three area Miami recruits netting linebacker Billy Joseph, quarterback Tutu Atwell, and athlete/quarterback Chatarius Atwell.

The trio pushing forward with the Owls was a package deal of sorts with all three recruits being teammates at Northwestern High School. FAU is getting a group of battle tested recruits. Northwestern is off to a 9-1 record this season ranked third in the state of Florida and No. 25 in the nation by MaxPreps.

Joseph’s commitment is a big one. The 6-1, 205, pound four-star linebacker has 15 reported offers with teams like Miami, LSU, West Virginia, Central Florida, South Florida, Illinois, and Maryland after him. Miami was on Joseph hosting him on several unofficial visits over the summer and on into the 2016 season. Joseph posted his commitment on Twitter writing, “I wanna say right now I’m committed to FAU.”

Chatarius Atwell is an all-around athlete for Northwestern. Lining up at wide receiver and quarterback, the 5-8, 155 pound, speedster is given various opportunities to make plays within the Bulls offense. Tutu Atwell (5-8, 155) is also a dual-threat quarterback for Northwestern. Both Atwell brothers received the first and only reported offer from FAU.

The Owls have 13 verbal commitments to their 2017 class with five three-star talents in the group. The addition of the Northwestern trio gives FAU four commits to their 2018 class with three-star safety Malik Occuir being the first to commit (Sept. 5).
