There is a buzz in southern California centered upon the new QB in town, Class of 2021 talent Colt Fulton. The 6-4, 180-pound, gunslinger tore it up against his peer group competition during the 2017 season leading to high expectations going forward. A move in the offseason from Alta High School in Utah to Centennial High School in Corona has drawn regional recruiting interest from college scouts ready to see the ideal sized lefty at one of the nation’s premiere high school football programs this fall. A weekend trip back to his home state included unofficial visits to BYU, Utah, and Weber State after visiting Arizona State in late February. In a Recruiting News Guru exclusive, I sat down for a quick interview with Fulton getting the details on his visits while in Utah.

Colt, how are your offseason workouts coming along?

“Really-really well. I am getting used to everything at Centennial. I am getting stronger and quicker with their workouts.”

Where are you seeing the biggest gains with your offseason work?

“My overall strength, my arm strength, and strength in my lower body. I am also seeing improvement with my speed.”

What about with your technique and fundamentals, are you working on anything with that part of your game?

“With my QB work, I am just trying to keep it the same. I am throwing it well right now.”

Has Centennial started spring ball?

“Yes, we have.”

How is it going?

“Really well. We have a lot of new kids. We are trying to get use to the offense. Right now, we are just trying to learn everything.”

This weekend you went back home to Utah for a couple of visits. Where all did you go?

“I went to Utah (Saturday), BYU (Friday), and Weber State (Saturday).”

How did the BYU visit go?

“It went really well. I liked the environment there. I like how loyal the fan base is and I really like the coaches too. They are very knowledgeable about the game. BYU seems like a good fit. I like the offense and how they run everything.”

What all did you do during the BYU visit?

“We got a tour of the facilities and then watched their practice.”

Did you learn anything new about the program or school during the visit?

“I learned about the culture and how they want things ran there.”

How did the Utah visit go?

“It went really-really well. The players and coaching staff are amazing – they know their stuff.”

What did you do during your visit with the Utes?

“We toured the campus and facilities. We watched their spring game, met some of the players, and tried on some of their gear.”

What did you think of spring game?

“I thought it was really good. Their offense looked good. The QBs looked good. Jack Tuttle (QB) looked good too.”

“I learned how they work off their mistakes to improve. They looked really good on offense.”

With both the BYU and Utah offense, how do you see yourself fitting into their offense?

“I think I fit really well with both. They both run pro-style offenses, in the shotgun and under center. I think I could do really well in either offense.”

Did the coaches from either BYU or Utah talk to you about your game or what they will be looking for from you with improvement going forward?

“I talked to a couple of coaches. They explained their recruiting process and how they like to see film.”
