That blur on the field for West Feliciana during the 2020 season making defenses look lost was Aeneaus Lemay. Lemay showed the 4.46 time in the 40 was no joke pushing way past Louisiana defenses for 820 yards off 48 receptions with 11 scores during the Saints nine-game season. Six college teams see a future playmaker they want on their roster in the 5-10, 170-pound, standout with even more teams starting to take interest.

With track season beginning and the 7v7 season in full swing, Lemay took a break with us covering ground on his fantastic season with an update on his recruiting.

Interview

Aeneaus, my man, you got some wheels. I have to ask; does it ever get lonely on the field always being by yourself on a route and then after the reception with everyone 15 yards behind you?

(Laughs) It depends. If it keeps happening in a game, I get used to it.

Even with defensive backs playing 10 yards or more off of you, you are still blowing past them. Throughout the 2020 season, what were some of the ways defenses were trying to cover you?

They’d run a corner inside, put a linebacker in the zone, and have a safety over the top. Sometimes there would be a nickel out there. I was seeing two to three defenders on every play.

In a footrace, you are beating everyone on a go or fly route. What are some of the other routes you were running within the Saints’ scheme?

Floods, jets, crossing, and wheel routes.

What is the best-timed run you’ve posted?

My best 40 is a 4.46.

Wow. Other than your speed, what are some of the other strengths to your game on offense?

As you said, my speed, route running, my hands, and my concentration – looking it all the way in.

Going into the offseason, what has been your focus on yet again improving your overall game?

Getting comfortable with my new teammates who are coming in and working hard on perfecting my craft. Everything can be tweaked, from running my routes to everything.

What have you been doing to make that happen?

Playing 7v7 and on the weekends I go to a trainer in Baton Rouge. I am also working by myself doing cone drills in the yard.

When the 2021 season gets going, what roles will you be taking on?

You will see me on special teams, receiver, running back, and at corner. I will play some defense this year.

Are you excited about playing corner during your senior season?

Yes, sir.

With all that speed, do you also run track?

Yes, sir.

Which events?

The 4×1 and I might do some 4×2, and the 100.

You mentioned playing 7v7 a couple of minutes ago. Which team are you playing for?

The Bootleggers.

How is the 7v7 season going?

We are doing pretty good. Our first tournament was in Miami, we lost in the championship game to Defcon. We played in Arizona last weekend. There, we made it to the semifinals. This weekend we are going to New Orleans for a tournament.

Are there any camps this spring or summer on your list to attend?

I might go to a few, like a Rivals camp. I will go to some college camps.

Sticking with the colleges. Which programs are showing interest?

Tulane, Vanderbilt, UCF, Mississippi State, and Boston College. There are more, but I cannot think of all of them right now.

No worries. How many offers have been given to you?

Six.

Which was the first to offer you?

South Alabama

Lemay’s Offer Sheet: Arkansas State, Florida Atlantic, Liberty, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, and South Alabama

When visits get going again, which programs might you go see?

UL (Louisiana) and all the schools that have offered. Liberty, Arkansas State and Tulane. I’d like to visit Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi State.

Aeneaus, congratulations on the highly successful 2020 season. I am looking forward to seeing how your track season goes as well.

Thank you, sir.
