What was once lost to Memphis was reunited again when Oklahoma Class of 2017 wide receiver Nick Robinson verbally committed to the Tigers for a second time on Wednesday.

College coaches loved the athleticism and play making abilities Robinson brings to the field. During his senior season, the 6-3, 205 pound, receiver logged 48 catches for 773 yards with 14 scores helping Putnam City West to a 7-4 record against 6A competition. Depending on how Robinson’s frame fills out, he could stay at receiver or grow into a collegiate tight end.

The Patriots standout had over 20 reported scholarship offers with teams like Baylor, Kansas State, Louisville, Arizona, Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa State, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Nebraska, and Mississippi State extending a scholarship. Robinson initially committed to Memphis on June 15 but decommitted on Oct. 27. An unofficial visit was taken to Oklahoma on Oct. 29 with official visits to Central Florida on Sept. 16 and Central Michigan on Jan. 13. The Tigers hosted Robinson on Jan. 20 leading to his announcement on Jan. 25.

Robinson made his commitment during an announcement celebration at his school. He had four hats on the table, Arizona State, Memphis, Nebraska, and Central Michigan. He acted like he was grabbing the Nebraska hat and then put on the Memphis hat with an outpouring of approval from those in attendance.

247Sports rates Memphis’ 2017 class No. 57 in the nation, No. 1 in the AAC. Rivals rates Memphis’ 23 commits at No. 50 in the country with Obinna Eze, TJ Carer, and Robinson ranked as four-star players.
