While covering high school football recruiting it happens a lot, you watch a highlight reel on a given player and wonder how in the world said recruit is only ranked as a 3-star talent. The thought holds true for Kingsburg (CA) 2017 offensive/defensive tackle Andrew Vorhees.

Vorhees was a monster on the gridiron for the Vikings in 2015. Playing ironman football, the fit 6’6”, 290 pound, talent was credited for 38 tackles on defense but found his future calling on offense.

If pancake blocks doled out was a commodity that could be traded on in the open market, Vorhees would be a Wall Street superstar. Very few running plays called during his junior campaign did not end up with a defender or two picking up new grass stains on the back of their jersey courtesy of Vorhees. Vorhees opened up holes for senior running back Seth Brooks aiding in his 1,400-yard season with 22 scores on the ground and kept junior quarterback Anthony Sierra’s backside safe along the way to 2,300-yards passing with 13 touchdowns tossed.

College coaches see the attitude, strength, and athleticism in Vorhees with double-digit offers coming in from top Division-I programs primarily on the west side of the Mississippi River. The teams setting scholarships on the table includes UCLA, Oregon, Nevada, Colorado State, Fresno State, Colorado, Oregon State, Boston College, San Diego State, Washington State, and Utah.

In a Recruiting News Guru exclusive interview, I met up with Vorhees before a UCLA practice to get his thoughts on his unofficial visit with the Bruins and a recruiting news update.
