Washington’s jump on the 2017 recruiting class has been a slow but impressive start. The Huskies added their third verbal commitment on Wednesday night when California wide receiver Terrell Bynum pledged to Washington.

Bynum garnered attention playing for Servite High School during his sophomore and junior seasons. During the 2014 season, he caught 31 passes for 391 yards with five touchdowns and added 39 receptions for 611 yards with three more scores during his junior year. The 6’1”, 180 pound, talent has also been a difference maker on special teams covering 392 yards as a kick returner off 16 attempts with a 93-yard touchdown and picked up another 68 yards as a punt returner off 11 tries.

College coaches have filled Bynum’s offer sheet with nearly 20 extended by the time of his commitment. Top programs from around the nation have offered including Arizona State, Miami, Oklahoma, Nebraska, UCLA, USC, Michigan, Utah, Washington State, and Tennessee. Bynum visited Washington’s campus in November and returned over the first weekend in April with 5-star St. John Bosco teammate, offensive lineman Wyatt Davis.

Bynum made his decision public via Twitter posting, “I just want to thank God & everyone who has supported me throughout this process enabling me to extend my education and attend a 4-year college. I would like to thank all the coaches that have offered me, put the time into recruiting me, and has given me an opportunity to play at their university. I would not be here without my family and coaches who have made me the man I am today. In saying that, I am excited to announce that I will be a Dawg and attend The University of Washington.”

Once on the Washington campus, Bynum will be reunited with Servite Class of 2017 teammate Keith Taylor. Bynum transferred from Servite to St. John Bosco in the offseason.

Although the Huskies only have three verbal commitments, all three recruits are highly regarded with Taylor and Bynum both considered 4-stare talents.
